Overview of course
Eight hour workshop which helps delegates prepare for retirement on a psychological level. Workshop presented by Clinical psychologist and Soft Skills developer.
Course objectives
Most people prepare for retirement on a financial level, and some find themselves floundering emotionally after retirement. This workshop aims to help delegates prepare for retirement socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. It also aims to encourage delegates to not let their skills go to waste after retirement.
Course content
- Understanding the psychological reactions to retirement (continuers, adventurers, etc)
- Understanding the phases of retirement (ranging from pre-retirement, post-retirement honeymoon and disenchantment to reorientation and productive adaptation)
- Examining expectations, values, individual personality and stress profiles
- Health issues
- Relationship issues
- Possible problems (depression, bereavement, etc)
- Preparing a psychological portfolio for retirement (timing of important decisions, post-retirement goals)
- Start-up of post-retirement businesses
Post-workshop
- Feedback to organization
- Individual follow-up with delegates
