We have a new kind of young person entering the business world, with a very different world view, set of values, priorities and goals to what their managers and bosses have had. At the same time, the business context is changing rapidly and as it adapts to these societal shifts, we are seeing the emergence of young talent who, along with business, have no template to work off.
Historically HR managed people’s careers. Today HR doesn't. Today's talented employees have to learn how to do this themselves. This focus unit is aimed at helping talented people navigate today’s workplace challenges by exploring what it means to be ‘talented’ and understanding today’s business world.
In order to do this, we make use of a three-step process which demonstrates to young talent that the future they are moving towards is a matter of personal choice, not chance:
1. Understand who you are
2. Design what you want
3. Create what you need
Our aim is to help talented people:
- understand who they are within the business environment
- embrace today’s changing workplace
- strategically explore, plan, and create their future at work by designing a personal learning plan to achieve their potential
- understand and maximise on networking, and coaching and mentoring interventions
In short, the aim of this focus unit is to equip your talent with the skills to create their own future.
